Years of NOT Following the Rules

Why We're Called Rebel.

And Why That Matters for Your Health.

The Rebel Origin Story

The name isn't just clever branding. It's exactly what we do.

I've been practicing chiropractic for 22+ years. In that time, I've watched a lot of chiropractors do the same thing over and over, expecting different results. Adjust every patient the same way. See them three times a week forever. Never ask why the problem keeps coming back.

That's not rebellion. That's just following the script.

We're called Rebel because we stopped following that script a long time ago.

How I Became a Rebel (the Dr. Kirk Story)

I Learned What Doesn't Work the Hard Way

I grew up on a ranch in Wyoming. Came to Bozeman for undergrad, left for chiropractic school, came right back. Montana's been home for over two decades now, even though I'm not your typical Montana guy. I don't hunt, I don't fish, and I definitely don't post pictures of me hiking with my dog.

What I do is go to seminars. A lot of seminars. That's how I have fun. Learning what actually works.

After chiropractic school, I did what every chiropractor does: I learned techniques. A lot of them. Seventeen, to be exact. I thought more techniques meant better results.

Then I became my own worst patient.

When Traditional Chiropractic Made Me Worse

I was seeing a whiplash-certified chiropractor. Top of his field. He adjusted me every visit. Traditional, forceful adjustments. The kind that crack and pop.

I kept getting worse.

Here's what I learned from that: forcing a bone back into place doesn't fix anything if your body isn't ready to hold it there. As you get older, your body stores more trauma. More compensation patterns. More stress. You can't just crack through all of that and hope it sticks.

That's when I started learning the techniques that actually address why bones move out in the first place. The neurologic patterns. The stress responses. The inflammation that never goes away.

I learned Neural Integration. Zone Technique. Koren Specific Technique. Low-force methods that work with your nervous system instead of against it.

I tested them on myself first. They worked. Then I started using them on patients. They worked better than anything I'd learned in school.

So I became a rebel. I stopped doing what chiropractors are "supposed" to do and started doing what actually gets people better.

The Practice Evolution

When Traditional Chiropractic Made Me Worse

Out of the 17 techniques I learned, I use five of them. Not because I got lazy. Because I figured out which ones produce real, lasting results.

About 95% of what we do is low-force. We only do traditional adjusting when your body specifically needs it, which is about 3-5% of the time.

Most chiropractors would say that's backwards. That's fine. Their patients keep coming back three times a week. Mine average six visits for acute care and then get to decide if they want to stick around.

Why We Added Functional Medicine

About 10 years ago, our oldest daughter got sick. We thought it was strep or the flu that was going around her third-grade class. But weeks passed. The stomach pain didn't stop. The fatigue got worse. Every day brought tears over pain the doctors couldn't explain.

That's when we realized the medical system doesn't have answers for chronic illness. They have drugs for symptoms. They have tests that come back "normal" while your kid is clearly not normal.

We went down the functional medicine rabbit hole. Gut testing. Food sensitivity testing. Heavy metal testing. Mold. Parasites. Infections that don't show up on standard labs.

We found what was wrong. We fixed it. She got better.

Then we looked at each other and said: if we had to fight this hard to get our own daughter healthy, how many other families are stuck in the same loop?

That's when Rebel Chiropractic became more than just chiropractic. We added functional medicine. Proper testing. Supplement protocols that actually work. A whole-system approach to getting people out of chronic illness.

Because sometimes the problem isn't just your spine. Sometimes it's the toxins your body can't clear. The gut that can't absorb nutrients. The chronic infections nobody's looking for.

We became rebels in functional medicine the same way we became rebels in chiropractic: by doing what works instead of what we're supposed to do.

The Rebel Approach

What Being a Rebel Actually Means

We Don't Take Insurance

Insurance companies tell doctors what they can and can't do. How long appointments can be. What techniques are "approved." We decided we'd rather answer to our patients than an insurance adjuster.

We Don't Do Long-Term Contracts

Most practices want you locked in. We want you better. When you hit 80% improvement, it's your choice whether to keep coming or not.

We Use What Works, Not What's Popular

Muscle testing isn't sexy. It doesn't make for good Instagram content. But it works. So we use it. When something stops getting results, we drop it and find something better.

We Tell You the Truth

If we don't think we can help you, we'll tell you that on the first visit. We're not trying to see you three times a week for six months if you need surgery or a different specialist.

We Keep Learning

I go to seminars for fun. Most people think that's weird. I think it's weird to stop learning. Medicine changes. Research advances. If I'm not keeping up, I'm falling behind.

Life in Montana (but Not the Way You Think)

My wife Kylee, and I live in Montana because it's a good place to raise a family. Safer than most places. Close enough to both sets of parents. Pretty enough. But we're not your typical Montana couple.

We don't have pictures of us on mountain trails. We don't have a black lab. Our favorite thing to do? Leave the country. Beaches, specifically. Anywhere warm.

Kylee handles the business side of the practice. I handle the clinical side. She makes sure I don't accidentally commit insurance fraud or forget to pay taxes. I make sure patients actually get better.

We work well together because we're both practical. No fluff. No pretending to be something we're not. If we lived somewhere else, we'd probably be just as happy. But we're here, so we might as well make it count.

That's probably the most Montana thing about us: we show up, do the work, and don't make a big deal about it.

The Team

Dr. Kirk Archibald, DC

That's me. I already told you my story.

22+ years in practice. Learned 17 techniques, use five. Licensed in Montana. Trained in Neural Integration, Zone Technique, KST, Applied Kinesiology, and about a dozen other methods I've mostly forgotten.

I'm better at fixing people than talking about myself. If you want to know if I can help you, book an appointment. I'll tell you within the first visit if we're a good fit.

Kylee - Partner and Practice Manager, Belgrade Location

Kylee has been by Dr Kirk’s side for more than 20 years. Whether it was helping at exhibits, keeping Dr Kirk on track outside the office, and now she is the smiling face in our Belgrade location that keeps things running smoothly.

Patients love her because she is friendly, genuinely cares about the people she sees, and helps guide our patients through nutritional needs. She is also straightforward and will tell you like it is and make sure you have what you need.

Kylee is also a certified health and life coach along with being a certified quantum nutrition practitioner. You will soon see her taking clients of her own.

Juanita - Office Manager, Livingston Location

Juanita has been with us for over 10 years. She knows more about the practice than I do at this point. She's the one who actually remembers when patients are supposed to come back, which insurance doesn't cover what, and where we put the thing we just had five minutes ago.

Patients love her because she's straightforward. No runaround. If you call and ask a question, she'll give you an actual answer, not transfer you three times.

If you're at our Livingston location, Juanita's probably the first person you'll meet. She's a gem.

Why "Rebel" Still Fits

We could have called ourselves "Bozeman Family Chiropractic" or "Montana Wellness Center" or any of the other names every practice uses, but

We don't do family chiropractic the way most practices do. We don't do wellness the way wellness centers do. We do things differently because different gets results.

We're rebels because:

  • We refuse to adjust people into oblivion when muscle testing says the problem is somewhere else.

  • We won't sell you a care plan that locks you in for months when you might be better in weeks.

  • We don't pretend insurance-based care is better for you when it's really just better for cash flow.

  • We keep learning even when it means admitting the old way doesn't work as well.

  • We'll tell you the truth even when it's not what you want to hear.

After 22 years, I'm still a rebel. Still going to seminars. Still testing new approaches. Still dropping techniques when they stop producing results.

Because being a rebel isn't about being different for the sake of being different.

It's about refusing to do things that don't work just because everyone else is doing them.

That's what you get when you come to Rebel Wellness: a doctor who cares more about your results than fitting in with what chiropractors are "supposed" to do.

Ready to Work With a Rebel?

If you're tired of the same old chiropractic approach that hasn't worked, we're here. If you want someone who'll tell you the truth about what's wrong and how long it'll take to fix, that's us.

Book your first visit. See if we're a good fit. If we are, we'll get you better. If we're not, we'll tell you that too.
